Deadpool – Tim Miller (2016 movie) ~ ☕☕☕☕

4ae4e-deadpool-834516798-largeHello everyone!

A long time has passed since the last English review I wrote, but don’t worry, I’m back! (Sorry for you.)

Here I am talking about an amazing movie I saw with a friend last week, that is, as you see, Marvel’s Deadpool.
I won’t deny I’m quite fond of superheroes movies, even if I haven’t seen all of them. However, I really appreciated this one even if I hardly knew about this hero’s existence.

But let’s talk about the plot first.

The movie opens with this guy in a red suit looking desperately for someone on a speedway. He causes some car crashes, a little fire, a little shots and sticks some guys like skewers, but in the end he finds the guy he’s looking for. Meanwhile, through some flashbacks, we get to know his story.
His name is Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and he is a… I don’t know… a kind of criminal who punishes the ones who are worse than him (like a mercenary), and he gets to know these people thanks to some cards – they don’t say that much about the cards. Anyway, he gets the cards in this pub which is frequented by people like him, and the 418ce-deadpool-4-640x427barman Weasel (T. J. Miller) is his best friend, basically, even if he bets on him for the “deadpool” (basically, an “who dies first?” race to get some money… what a friend!). One day Wade meets Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), a young woman with whom he sleeps at first like it is a game but in the end, after some time, they actually fall in love and she finally says “yes”.
What a pity that after some time Wade is diagnosed with a terminal cancer.

He tries to find a solution and one day he is approached by a suspicious man in black who tells Wade they have the cure, and after some time he decides to try just for Vanessa’s love.
He has no idea that what he is going to do will change him forever.
The man in black is indeed part of an organization that picks “broken” people and does human experimentations to make them “superheroes”. The chief of the “scientists” is Francis Freeman (Ed Skrein) a.k.a. Ajax, who tried the experiment on himself and the result is that he has the best reflexes on earth but no emotions. Anyway, the organization turns out to be a factory of “super-slaves” to sell to the best bidder, and the desperate men it picks are tortured in the worst ways in order to awaken the X Gene, a latent mutant gene. Of course, Francis, having no emotions, has no regrets for torturing people. ec82a-ajax
After some tortures, Wade’s gene shows itself and changes him. It actually cures the cancer, but the price is quite high, because it disfigures Wade’s face. And it makes him immortal.
Wade has no intention of becoming one’s slave and he escapes the lab, but he can’t go back to Vanessa: he is sure that, after two years, she has forgotten him and, even if it hasn’t happened, he is sure that with that face she would reject him.

67277-giphy21I stop here with the plot because I don’t want to tell you how the movie ends; all that I can say is watch it because it is a really good movie (except for some little parts… they are… well… a bit rude. But I understand why is rated for over 14, at least here. It’s not the kind of superhero movie that a mother would want her child to see).

It made me laugh so much that it doesn’t even look like a superhero movie – I mean, have you seen Thor or Captain America? They’re too serious! – and I just love this character – Ryan is a good actor, but it was too weird when Wade mocked Ryan Reynolds, I mean, too strange!920bf-deadpool-dmc_2670_v068_matte-1045_rgb-0-0

Well, maybe I liked Deadpool because he is not the classical superhero – he’s not a superhero at all, he has no intention of becoming one, he just wants to avenge his face and get his girl again. More like an antihero than a superhero, right? But I think that he is a hero, somehow.

Someone may think that he is the mockery of a superhero, but he isn’t that, he is a different hero. 087b0-deadpool_film_2
To sum up: watch it because it’s fun, watch it because it’s nice, watch it because it’s different.
