Mindhunter – Joe Penhall ~ ☕☕☕☕

Good evening!

images (1)When this show came out I binge-watched it with enthusiasm. Since, the second season is likely to be released in these months, I decided to review it.

So, here I am to talk you about this beautiful Netflix TV series: Mindhunter.
The show, based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, consists of ten episodes.

Therefore, let’s begin from the plot.

We’re in 1977, Holden Ford ( Jonathan Groff, yes, that’s him, Jesse St. James from Glee) is an unsatisfied young FBI agent, who wants to do more than just being a mediator.

He is a FBI agent too and ends up participating  to seminars around the States with the young Holden and putting up Holden’s theories about “sequence killers”.
Intrigued by these ideas, Bill encourages Holden and, after an as fascinating as disturbing interview to one of the biggest killer of that time, they decide to propose to create a specific division in Quantico: the Behavioral Science Unit.

What can I say?
The pilot episode was everything but convincing and I confess you I have watched the second episode because of boredom more than interest.
And thank God I did it!
Indeed, in the second episode, Edmund Kemper (Cameron Britton) is introduced, character that defining “as charming as disturbing” is a euphemism, and I kept watch the show just thanks to him.lead_960
Yes, the protagonists are very interesting characters, the cases too, but the interview to the criminals! What are they! They capture you and they can trigger every kind of emotion, from disdain to compassion, moreover they open the doors of a world that, no point in denying it, somehow, charms everyone. Who never wonder what brings a murderer to kill? Especially, if he is a serial killer?

mindhuntermonterissellIn addition to such intriguing script, the technical part is well-developed – at least to my profane eyes – and the only “defect” is the music, not always fitting.

Told that, I invite you to catch it up, keeping in mind that this show is everything but light and that the cases are described in detail, sometimes in more details than you’d wanted.

Well, at this point it only remains from me to wish you enjoy it!
