Hallowe’en Party – Agatha Christie ~ ☕☕☕☕

Hello everyone!!

51j2O3jqL6L._SX310_BO1,204,203,200_How are you?

You must know I am a crime novel lover and, as such, I love the great brilliant Agatha Christie.

So, I took the opportunity to talk about her and review one of her masterpieces that comes in perfect timing: Hallowe’en Party.

We are in Woodleigh Common and, on the occasion of the long-awaited Halloween, a kids party has been organized.
Everything goes as it should: people laugh, people joke, people play, people say they witness a homicide…

Yes, this is what one of the girls, Joyce, affirms.

I saw a murder, once”.

As it is customary in this kind of situations, jokes, mockeries are the way to hide curiosity. “Of course you did not see it! Who died, huh?

6515Though, when Joyce is found in the library, dead, “drown” in the water bucket supposed to be used for the “apple game”, the girl’s words become more real than what anyone could ever imagine.
Is it possible that the famous “little liar” has actually said the truth and that, therefore, someone has decided to silence her for good?

In this crime novel, the incredible Hercule Poirot, the Belgian detective who made Agatha Christie famous, is flanked by Ariadne Oliver.
Ariadne is part of that crowd of characters that sometimes accompany Poirot during his investigations and, honestly, she is my favourite. Somehow, she is Christie’s “doppelgänger” and maybe this is what makes her so interesting.

To be fair, I could have reviewed any other Christie’s book, from Murder on the Orient-Express to Why didn’t they ask Evans? to The A.B.C. Murders, it would not make any difference, because what I want to say is: READ SOME BOOK WRITTEN BY THIS AMAZING WOMAN.
These books are never an end in itself: they have quotes, any kind of references and they have always a message (more or less clearly). Besides being extremely interesting and entertaining.
When you start one of her books, you are certain to never let it go (except for Miss Marple’s novels… Unfortunately, the old lady is a bit boring).
Reading how the funny Belgian with an egg-shaped head makes his grey cells work, how he solves the mystery (never banal)… Reading all this is always beautiful. They are novels you can read over and over again without ever getting tired of them.

Do you prefer a detective who is as curious as weird? Here you have Poirot!
Perhaps you like a merely psychological approach without real action? Miss Marple is made for you.
What if instead you like a young, energetic approach? There are Tommy and Tuppence!

In conclusion, I do not know how to express the admiration I feel for Agatha Christie’s works, but I sincerely hope to have intrigued you a little.

Begin from this book or from Murder on the Orient-Express and you will fall in love with her writing easily, trust me.

P.S. I am so sorry I did not say much about the book itself, but with crime novel every information is a spoiler.
